The developerWorks' article demonstrates it pretty clearly, what needs to be done in order to get WebSphere running in Docker and deploy a web application. The good news is that there is a WebSphere Docker image that you can use for development. WebSphere Application Server is available for Linux and Windows platforms, but not for MacOS. For instance, if you’d like to try JRebel on WebSphere AS and you are using MacOS, then you will have to take another route. However, there are some exceptions to that. Configuring JRebel agent for the server is also quite straightforward. You can just download the zip archive, and start the contain either from command line or via IDE integration. Here's an example of my nf file that forces SMB3 and turns off multi-channel which seems to be the main culprit of crashes when transferring over VPN.Getting any Java application server up and running in the development environment is usually a fairly simple task. When you mount a share via Finder, always check what you are using via terminal:ĭisable DS_Store file creation: defaults write DSDontWriteNetworkStores -bool TRUEĬreate this file: /etc/nf research what this does and what applies to you: man nf Part of the reason muCommander works is because it's simply not using Finder. All of our production systems (with the exception of the new M1 macbooks) have been kept back on macOS Catalina because of these issues. It started with Big Sur and became an intermittent issue ever since. Meaning none of the crashes over VPN connected server mounts happened prior. Note that in my testing all these issues became more apparent after macOS Catalina. We get 10-20 ms RTT to the server over the VPN. ![]() Most of the issues that are left now are intermittent problems with copying large files over the VPN. Our servers are on 40 Gbps connections and guess what? The only machines that ever have issues interfacing with our server cluster are Macs. We have an extremely fast internal network, enterprise-grade firewall, and high end workstations. I brought all my testing and info to them and they literally told me to go back and test mounting a SMB share that is being hosted on a Mac as if anyone runs a file share off a Mac lmao. They also don't give a shit if it's not Apple to Apple. I've brought this up to Apple Enterprise support and they pretty much told me they need more info. You'll see TCP re-transmissions followed by a disconnect on port 445 by the mac client whenever Finder crashes and unmounts the server. you can trace them down to being Finder specific and client specific via Wireshark if you really want to get into it (capture from the server). ![]() I've had many, many issues with the new version of macOS / SMB protocol. One huge reason is that Apple has a proprietary SMB protocol that changes between versions of macOS. ds_store on remote drives to try and speed things up, but so far the issue persistsĪnyone here have any advice for a Mac admin noob like me? Macs aren't exactly my strong suite, but I've tried everything I could think of (mostly various network resets or VPN settings), as well as a few things that Google had to suggest such as disabling the. Latency from the laptop to the server over VPN is anywhere from 80-300ms when these crashes occur This point is random, sometimes allowing a few minutes of use, and at others crashing as soon as the folder is openedĮven once this happens, I can still ping the server for the share, but in order to reconnect we'll have to reboot the Mac. Users can connect to network drives just fine, but as soon as they start browsing folders/files they will reach a point where finder locks up, we get a pinwheel, and then the connection to that share crashes along with the Finder window. Mac users can connect to the VPN and that's stable (if a little slow) for virtually everything with the exception of network drives. We use Sophos' VPN (Tunnelblick client on macOS) to enable them to access network resources and Windows users don't see any issues However, due to COVID still being a thing a few in our office work remote. When they're onsite, they can connect to our network shares (SMB, Windows Servers) without issue. Hey guys, sorry if this isn't the best place for it but I'm starting to lose some hair over an issue a couple of my Mac users are having
